Public Safety Disability Retirements in Montgomery Higher Than Most in Area

From Mont. County News Release

Over the past eight years, more than 13-percent of the retirements of Montgomery County employees have been disability related.  And, of that group, more than 77% have been public safety workers (fire/rescue, police, sheriff, corrections).

Compare this to Prince Georges public safety disability retirements: 25%.  Compare this to Fairfax County public safety disability retirements:  3%.

County Executive Leggett is now studying 7 recommendations issued by a working group that was charged with studying the problem.
